At Our Small Planet, your trip is more than just an unforgettable safari adventure — it’s a chance to give back. Conservation and community are at the heart of everything we do, and each trip supports projects that create a lasting impact on both wildlife and people.

To date, we’ve raised over £5,400 towards conservation and community initiatives. This is something we’re incredibly proud of — and it will always remain at the core of our company. Our goal is to see this figure continue to grow year after year.

From taking part in a rhino dehorning operation to spending time with schools, meeting youth groups, or donating essential supplies, you’ll experience first-hand the difference we’re making together.

Here are the initiatives you’ll be supporting when you travel with us:

Project Rhino

Project Rhino is a coalition dedicated to stopping rhino poaching and protecting KwaZulu-Natal’s white and black rhino populations.
We support Project Rhino and their initiatives, including the K9 Unit and Anti-Poaching Unit, which play a vital role in protecting these animals. Part of your trip cost contributes directly to animal intervention, helping safeguard rhinos in the wild.

Where possible, you’ll have the chance to participate in a rhino dehorning, a hands-on conservation activity designed to protect rhinos from poaching. Dehorning is currently the safest method to prevent poachers from targeting these animals, whose populations are at risk of extinction.

This is a rare opportunity to witness and contribute to crucial conservation work in action — an experience you are unlikely to find anywhere else.

By joining us, you’ll not only help support this critical effort but also gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing rhinos and the practical measures being taken to secure their future.

Community Support

Alongside wildlife protection, we’re committed to helping local communities thrive. Together, we:

– Partner with groups like the Girl Guides to encourage youth empowerment

During your trip, you’ll have the chance to see these initiatives first-hand and take part in one of the projects alongside our team on the ground.
Recent fundraising helped transform a crèche playground from unsafe and unusable into a bright, fun, and welcoming space for children.

Our last group not only raised the funds but also joined in the painting and building, leaving a lasting legacy.
